In Autumn, the new Riviera-Chablais Hospital will open its doors to its pampered patients. Located on an 86,000m2 site, the room configurations have been carefully designed to improve patient privacy and reduce the risk of infection. And comfort has not been forgotten, with rooms adjoining lush patios and noise-reducing low walls. Furthermore, each room will only hold two beds at most and feature views over the landscape.
In this setting, Avonite® has been used both for its ability to maintain hygiene, for its looks and above all for its extreme flexibility: In fact, Aristech Surfaces LLC has developed a version of its material for Riviera-Chablais Hospital with a fully customised colour (Buttermilk - RAL 9010) and thickness (9mm), while maintaining its high performance with the material receiving B1 certification under standard DIN 4102-1, one of the best solid surface fire resistance ratings for this type of thickness.
A total of 3,136 panels cover the 8,500m2 surface area for use in all situations: 90cm high wall protection in corridors and rooms to absorb hospital stretcher impacts, and 1,000m2 of work surfaces in the treatment and decontamination rooms.
A partner with both a commendable production capacity and a keen eye for logistics was required in order to successfully deliver this large scale, elegant project. That is why the Groupe-6 architecture firm called on LCCA. This architecture firm has won an enormous number of awards and distinctions, and is renowned for its expertise in managing the complex issues of building design. It is also structured to meet the major challenges of our modern society. Groupe-6 is currently working on a number of international projects including a hospital complex in Morocco, the Mariott Hotel tower in Bahrain and the head office for Schneider Electric in France. The firm received assistance from GD Architectes when executing this project.Riviera Chablais-HospitalAvonite® ButtermilkPhotos: Sandra CulandManufacturer: LCCAArchitect: Groupe-6Implementation: GD Architectes
